The safari camp is located within the Masai Mara National Reserve’s bordering Mara Triangle conservancy, which is home to a variety of wildlife. Due to the safari camp’s excellent position, observing countless animals, 450 different bird species, and lemming-like wildebeest beginning the Great Migration is a breeze.
This safari resort maintains a very genuine safari atmosphere while providing renowned Kenyan hospitality in cozy, modern surroundings. This safari lodge provides guests contemporary luxuries in the remote Kenyan bush with 40 opulent tented rooms, a magnificent swimming pool with panoramic views of the savanna, a breezy split-level guest sitting area with huge windows, and a holistic therapeutic massage tent. Going on safari is the pinnacle of sensory celebration, situated on the edge of the golden plains of the Masai Mara and the lush green trees of the Olooloo Escarpment. The tented suites at the safari camp come in three varieties: twelve classic tents hidden in the Saparingo River woodland, twenty superior tents under shady trees, and eight superior view tents (of which three are family suites) overlooking the Mara plains. The spacious tented suites on stilts each have their own private bathroom, a deep wraparound bench with cushions, and a huge screened-in terrace. The inside of the tents is Masai-inspired and feature stained cypress wood furnishings, tribal art, and modern uses of locally available materials. Large, comfortable beds with breath-taking views will make getting up and going to sleep a complete pleasure. A free set of Swarovski Optic binoculars is provided with each tent for use throughout your visit.
Looking at the food &Beyond Kichwa Tembo has a fantastic kitchen garden that the crew takes care of and uses to make its nutritious organic meals. Meals are taken in an airy, open dining area modelled after a restaurant, where an open kitchen is visible to all. Every meal is made more welcoming and enjoyable by the on-site cooks. When you’re out and about on game drives, you’ll enjoy lovely sundowners with your favourite drinks and appetizers. The safari camp’s Tusker Bar is the popular get together spot for afternoon tea or after dinner drinks with your Masai guides and fellow safari travellers.

Night safaris, off-road driving, bushwalks and more. These are just a few of the exciting safari adventures you can embark upon during your stay. The camp is well known for employing female Masai safari driver-guides. Two daily game drives are included in the price of your stay. For a more hands-on safari, you can choose to go on walking tours in the bush. Skilled Maasai guides will teach you how to track animals by identifying paw prints and movements in foliage. Some activities such as a hot air balloon safari, bush walks, a community visit to a Masai manyatta and horseback riding safaris are available at a surcharge. For families travelling with children, there’s the ‘Wildchild at Kichwa Tembo’ program (surcharge applies) which includes:

soccer with the camp’s team
a visit to a nearby Maasai village
preparation of a ranger’s omelette breakfast on a game drive

Beyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp goes to great lengths to limit its ecological footprint. A solar water system provides the safari camp with its hot water and by bottling all water on site the camp avoids using 56,000 plastic bottles annually.

GETTING TO KICHWA TEMBO
Air Kenya and Safari Link operate two scheduled flights a day from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to Kichwa Tembo’s private airstrip; the flights take approximately an hour.
Mombasa Air operates daily flights from Mombasa; the flights take approximately two hours.
The flight is followed by a 30-minute drive to the camp, with game viewing en route.
Alternatively, you may make the journey from Nairobi to the &Beyond Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp by road, which takes around six hours.  Depending on your arrival time, you may need to overnight in Nairobi before flying to the Maasai Mara the following day.
